Situated on the warm waters of Chaleur Bay, the city of Bathurst is an energetic hub of urban adventure. Framed by Youghall Beach, Daly Point Nature Reserve and the Nepisiguit River, this small city is also big on natural discoveries. Delicious eateries, historic buildings, local boutiques, and regional artists make a stroll along La Promenade Waterfront a must-do excursion on your list. And the marina is a fun reminder—this is an authentic seaside town.
The 18-hole golf course at Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club and the 9-hole at Squire Green Golf & Country Club beg you to test your skills—while still enjoying the nature that New Brunswick is famous for. Pabineau Falls and a long hike along the Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq trail are the perfect way to reconnect with nature. In the winter, the area is a snowmobiler's paradise, with many trails and trailside accommodations.
Explore some of the neighbouring communities and you’ll create even more memories. Boat tours, fresh seafood, farmers markets, sandy beaches, seaside trails, golden sunsets, and incredible natural beauty are all waiting for you.
Four Rivers Brewing Co. is a family-owned and operated 15-barrel brewery. As longtime fans of craft beer, and having experienced the allure of freshly produced ales in our neighbouring communities and provinces, we asked ourselves, “Why not us?" So, in 2017, we set out to make authentic, true-to-style ales right here in our hometown of Bathurst.
Come For The Greens, Stay For The View
This course was designed by Mr. C.E. (Robbie) Robinson who was well known at this time as one of the top golf course architects in Canada. By 1962 the course was open for 18 holes of play and was considered to be one of the most demanding courses in Atlantic Canada. Constructed along the windy shores of the Bathurst Harbour near the Bay of Chaleur, Mr. Robinson was able to incorporate water views from at least 14 different holes through out the course. Two of the holes are considered to be among the toughest in Canada. The 13th hole is a 447 yard par four with a severe sloping fairway to a tiny three tiered green. The 17th hole is a 243 yd par three partly over water and into a prevailing wind. This shot will usually require a driver from even the most accomplished golfers.
The Pabineau Falls are recognized in the Chaleur region for their grandiose beauty! Located in the Pabineau First Nation, the falls are on the Nepisiguit River and are surrounded by breathtaking nature. Gegoapsgog is the mi'gmaq name for this location, and it means "at the top of the falls". Did you know that the granit of Pabineau Falls has an estimate age of 397 million years? A must stop during a visit to the Chaleur region!
